In The Community

Wellesley Country Club is an active member of the Wellesley community. The majority of our members are residents of the town and share our commitment to good citizenship. Our history is intertwined with the town’s, as it was in the ballroom of our old clubhouse that the people of West Needham voted to separate from Needham and form our own town. It was also from these premises that the local contingent of minutemen set out on April 19, 1775 to fight the first battle of the Revolutionary War. An obelisk at the site of our old clubhouse commemorates these other pieces of town history and is available for public viewing.

Our golf course is the site of a number of community events, including hosting Wellesley High School golf team matches, the Wellesley Chamber of Commerce golf tourney, the Wellesley Police Department golf tournament and the Babson College President’s Cup. Our clubhouse has also been the location for events sponsored by the Wellesley Historical Society, the Wellesley Hills and Wellesley Garden Clubs as well as the Wellesley High School Thanksgiving Gridiron Breakfast.
