WCC 2016 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship
Wellesley Country Club was honored to host the 2016 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship, which was held September 17-22. We previously hosted the 2010 Massachusetts Open, along with other state tournaments. This was the 55th playing of the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur and the first to be played in Massachusetts.
Golfers from around the globe competed in qualifying sites across the U.S. to gain one of the 132 spots in the championship field. The first two days consisted of 36 holes of stroke play, after which the field was cut to 64 players for match play. In a test of skill, endurance and mental toughness, the winner earned six match victories over four days to become one of just 13 national champions crowned by the USGA in 2016.
Thank you for joining us in celebrating and giving back to the wonderful game of golf!
